Reishi - The Prana Prodigy

Reishi or Ganoderma Lucidum is one of the most powerful and sought after mushroom species on the planet. It has been used for thousands of years in ancient Chinese medicine where Reishi has been described to 'hold the keys to immortality'. It was also used to balance the life force (chi or qi or prana) in one's body and elevate their vitality.

Today, Reishi is considered an adaptogen, meaning that it helps the body adapt and cope with the stress we encounter in our daily lives. It's been shown to assist the body's immune function in various studies. One study done on advanced-stage cancer patients showed a significant increase in natural killer cells and immune stimulation. It concluded from that study that Reishi supplementation at that level increased the immune response on those patients.

Another study was done on breast cancer patients undergoing endocrine therapy to see if reishi supplementation helped with cancer/ cancer treatment related fatigue. The participants of the group taking reishi showed statistically significant improvements in their physical well-being and fatigue. "These patients also reported less anxiety and depression and better quality of life. Immune markers of CRF were significantly lower and no serious adverse effects occurred during the study."

***Because of its potential blood pressure & sugar lowering effect, those on blood thinning medications (or any medication, including diabetics), those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a blood disorder, will be undergoing surgery or have low blood pressure should consult with a doctor before supplementing with Reishi.
